Arte Bella on 4th Ave
Client project focused on a comprehensive site redesign using responsive web design (RWD) elements for a local bar, restaurant, and arts & craft studio.
My Role
UX Researcher & Designer
(Product Strategy, User Research, Interaction and Visual Design, Prototyping & Testing)
Tools Used
Figma, Wix
The Problem
Patrons often feel confused and intimidated on how to navigate the website. Individuals want to get information quickly to view offerings; a full bar, restaurant, and arts and crafts classes at a cannabis friendly location.
This video provides a glimpse of the previous site, prior to the redesign.
The Solution
Redesign the Arte Bella on 4th Ave. website to to reduce text verbosity and enhance the visibility of all products and services offered, allowing users to feel confident on how to sign up for classes, order food, and peruse the website.
Client Interview
The main focus is that this location is a cannabis friendly establishment, however, the client didn't want this to overshadow the promotion of the bar, restaurant, live events, and the arts and crafts classes they provided.
Project Sketches
I tasked myself with designing sketches for the home page (mobile and desktop) based on user motivations when they visit the site. From there, I created four Figma low to mid-fi prototypes.
Prototypes & User Testing
The client wanted to see several prototypes. User interviews indicated that customers wanted to feel like they understood the purpose of the website. Additionally, analytics were used to understand overall preferences in the services this client was offering.
Style Guide
Given the nature of this cannabis friendly, artsy business, dark themes and artistic psychedelic splashes of color were used.
White text on dark backgrounds provided distinct contrast.
Easy to read sans-serif fonts were used throughout the site.
Design Evolution & A/B Testing
A/B testing with the client and users was a pivotal feature of this project. The client provided buzz words they felt represented certain pages on their site. I took that feedback and conducted A/B testing.
